Pinal County Schools Job Description Job Title: Interdisciplinary STEM Education Specialist Department: Professional Development Reports to: Associate County School Superintendent FLSA Status: Exempt Summary: The Interdisciplinary STEM Education Specialist will facilitate the provision of the professional development needs of school and district personnel in the area of STEM instruction and content correlated with the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards in order to improve and enrich the STEM learning experiences of Pinal County students.. Education and Experience: • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate • Expertise in STEM development and instruction content and pedagogy at the elementary and/or secondary school level • Knowledge of current and accepted STEM research, assessment, instruction and best practices • Demonstrated competency in presentation and group facilitation with adult learners • A minimum of five years of successful classroom instruction • Master’s degree in Education with current SEI Endorsement Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plan and conduct professional development opportunities coaching/mentoring/support and assistance in the area of STEM instruction and content for the PCSOESA. 2. Conduct a survey of the professional development and technical assistance needed in STEM instruction and content by schools and districts. 3. Contact and schedule qualified personnel to provide professional development for the schools and districts in the county 4. Provide a schedule of professional development opportunities in STEM instruction and content areas throughout the year. 5. Coordinate and preside over all STEM professional development offered by the PCSOESA. 6. Comply with the budgeting and documentation regulations of the PCSOESA in the performance of duties. 7. Maintain current knowledge of accepted STEM research, approaches, assessment, instruction, interventions and best practices. 8. Possesses knowledge of scientifically based STEM research. 9. Provide technical support for schools/districts in interpreting data for the purpose of improving STEM instruction. 10. Incorporate current technological tools to increase job performance. 11. Co-manages Pinal County ESA Consortium meetings and activities 12. Develops and finalizes reporting requirements for project activities and budget expenditures. Other Skills and Abilities: 1. Use evaluations and direct feedback to improve the effectiveness of trainings and services. 3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Pinal County School Office, Arizona Department of Education, school districts and all of the constituents of the PCSOSA. 4. Establish an open and honest accountability system with supervisor. 5. Work collegially and productively with multiple teams of people. 6. Work effectively with a variety of people. 7. Able to travel to school locations throughout the county. 8. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. 9. Perform duties in a timely and professional manner. 10.
