Job Description:
Duties: Prepare lesson plans and instruct students in accordance with established curriculum, student needs, and the Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) program and its tenants of implementation. Assess student needs and performance. Develop, implement and evaluate daily lesson plans, to include scheduled activities and materials. Modify instruction to meet the needs of each child. Collaborate with school staff to integrate the arts with core curriculum while facilitating creative problem solving and critical thinking. Serve as the Arts Integration coordinator or Artistic Director for the school, coordinating meetings between the Teaching Artists, classroom teachers, administrators, etc., overseeing arts-related field trips and school performances. Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding student progress. Meet regularly with Classroom Teachers, by grade level, to design lessons, assess the success of these lessons, and refine arts integration. Attend training as required by TUSD. Participate in professional development training that occurs at least three times per year and in the summer through IDEA: Instructional Design for the Arts. Provide on-site support and monitoring for the successful school wide implementation and evaluation of district instructional strategies demonstrating the integration of arts standards.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music, or related. Possess Arizona Department of Education teacher certification in elementary or secondary education with Art, Dance, Drama or Music as an approved area. Possess Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
