QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Arizona Department of Education Administrative Certification or eligibility to obtain.
- A minimum of two (2) years building level administrative experience, preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Classroom Teacher, School Psychologist, or related services provider.
- Experience in grant management of State and Federal funds in the last three (3) years, preferred.
- Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including grant and report writing.
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Skilled in supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Knowledge of special education laws and implementation of special education programs and processes with the maximum consideration of inclusion and least restrictive environment.
- Knowledge of laws and implementing processes as they relate to all programs within the department.
- Experience in grant management and budgeting processes.
- Knowledge of current research in educational leadership and school reform.
- Knowledge of special education disabilities and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and ability to ensure District procedures are in legal compliance.
- Knowledge of teaching methods and techniques as they relate to all programs within department.
- Ability to develop and implement training.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
- Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
- Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
- Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.
