Job Description:
Summary:
Directs the operations and staff of the Financial Services Department to best support teaching and learning.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use high-level interpersonal skills in order to maintain effective relationships
Experience facilitating the development and implementation of a strategic plan
Experience developing and managing budgets
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
Use of office applications such as excel, word, etc
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years of school district financial management experience
Demonstrated experience in financial information systems and accounting software such as Visions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS UPON HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop long-term strategic and business financial policies and procedures in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes and the Uniformed System of Financial Records (USFR) and ensure compliance by district staff through training and monitoring programs
Compile and analyze monthly and annual special financial reports on district budgets
Recommend actions to ensure compliance with program requirements, while ensuring maximum impact to support teaching and learning
Analyze and implement best practices in public financial accounting policies and procedures to improve district efficiency and productivity
Serve as a principal member of the District Budget Review Committee and Budget Development Committee
Evaluate district and state expenditure and revenue formulas; analyzes and forecasts the impact on the overall district budget; and, recommend actions that help improve the district’s financial position
Prepare and present the annual budget and all revisions to the Governing Board
Prepare and present the Annual Financial Report and all revisions to the Governing Board
Understand and evaluate financial accounting software systems and implement changes to the computerized financial system
Evaluate monthly financial statements and, prepares and presents monthly reports to the Governing Board concerning the financial status of the district
Provide periodic financial updates to the Superintendent and Governing Board
Conduct annual performance reviews and evaluations of staff
Perform all other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL TASKS
Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion is not normally required to perform all aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, stooping, bending, and holding and grasping objects. Visual weakness must not prohibit the performance of assigned duties. Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.
