Mountain Institute Career and Technical Education District (MICTED)
Call for Superintendent Candidates, Process and Timeline
The Governing Board of Mountain Institute, a Career and Technical Education School District, in west central Arizona is undertaking the employment of a new district leader, upon the June 30, 2027 retirement of the current Superintendent.
The district was created following a 2008 election in which the voters of seven contiguous unified (K12) school districts, including Ash Fork, Bagdad, Chino Valley, Humboldt, Mayer, Prescott, and Seligman, passed a request previously approved by the Arizona State Board of Education, and gathered 74% of the collective popular vote. Each community has a seat for an elected Governing Board Member, totaling seven (7) members, who serve rotating four (4) year terms.
Career and Technical Education Districts, or CTED’s, are established and governed by Arizona state law. Please refer to Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 15, Education, starting with 15-392, through the end of the chapter.
Mountain Institute services about 700 students at central campuses and 1400 students at satellite campuses across 32 programs. The trend in enrollment has been rising since 2022. A new center has just been completed for Dental, Veterinary and Cosmetology programs. Mountain Institute shares facilities with Yavapai College near the Prescott airport. The Governing Board is primarily seeking an experienced Superintendent who is fully certificated in Arizona. If needed, they are willing to consider offering a non-traditional option for other certified administrative candidates, including those from out of state, who would like to be considered.
The Board is willing to consider a salary between $ 130,000 and $160,000. per year, plus other employment benefits.
Closing date, October 15, 2026. All information required in the application is due by this date. The actual employment date is July 1, 2027. The Board would be pleased if the new leader could spend time during the spring semester on campus with current staff and administration. Funding may be available.
Interviews will be conducted on November 9, 2026.
A final decision of the Board will be made in their December 2026 meeting.
