JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing classroom/instructional support directly to students.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a paraprofessional classification responsible for providing classroom/instructional support directly to students in an assigned area such as classrooms, physical education classes, Media Center, and Health/Wellness Center. Support instruction and assisting teachers with implementing activities for classrooms and/or small groups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District’s needs.
* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.
• Tutors students in assigned curricular areas before school, during lunch, and after school,
focusing on specific concepts which are difficult or need reinforcement;
• Modifies classroom materials for individual student needs;
• Prepares lesson plans in assigned area of responsibility that address student modifications
and accommodations;
• Documents services provided to students in compliance with applicable guidelines and/or
programs;
• Participates in the development of student goals and objectives;
• Documents and monitors student progress and participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to review individual student needs;
• Participates in coordinating student testing and reassessments to determine current needs and/or progress and maintains related records and files;
• Maintains a variety of student records and information in assigned areas of responsibility;
• Facilitates in-services and instructs staff on educational techniques, integration,
modifications, adaptations, and accommodations for classrooms and/or students for
functional educational performance; and,
• Performs related work as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES
Classroom Aide (General / Special Education Assignment)
• Tutors students in assigned academic and core curricular areas within the classroom
environment, focusing heavily on specific concepts that are difficult or need reinforcement.
• Modifies classroom materials, assignments, and learning activities to directly align with
individual student learning needs, adaptations, and accommodations.
• Documents and monitors student progress during daily classroom operations and maintains organized student performance data to assist the instructional team.
• Participates in coordinating student testing, formative assessments, or mandated
accommodations at the classroom level and retains all related files.
PE Aide (Physical Education Assignment)
• Tutors and guides students in physical education concepts, rules, and group activities,
focusing on specific motor or athletic skills that need reinforcement.
• Modifies physical education materials, adaptive sports gear, and equipment layouts to
safely accommodate individual physical needs, medical restrictions, or behavioral adaptations.
• Documents student participation and specific physical services provided during activities in compliance with fitness and safety program guidelines.
• Maintains a variety of student records, tracking athletic engagement, behavior data, and
safety information within the physical education area of responsibility.
Health Center Aide (Health & Clinic Assignment)
• Maintains a variety of student records, immunization data, and confidential clinic logs
within the health office while adhering to regulatory standards.
• Documents health center services provided to students in strict compliance with medical
protocols, local laws, and district health program guidelines.
• Facilitates information and updates staff regarding student-specific medical
accommodations, physical adaptations, or functional healthcare needs.
• Monitors children and provides customer service utilizing basic first aid and medical triage
skills to safely address immediate student healthcare needs.
Media Center Aide (Library & Media Assignment)
• Tutors and instructs students in media literacy, catalog software operations, and digital
research platforms before, during, or after library hours.
• Modifies media center materials and learning spaces to align resource accessibility with
individual student reading levels, language needs, or accommodations.
• Maintains a variety of student records, technology check-out logs, fine histories, and
textbook inventory information within the library media area of responsibility.

supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information
and to receive work direction.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours of college or successful completion of the Districtapproved exam to become Highly Qualified per Arizona Department of Education guidance; or an equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• TB test.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
