Job Description:

JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Responsible for developing, planning, and treating children with physical deficits to assist with
learning and provides consultation to teachers and staff on strategies to improve students'
physical abilities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a professional level classification responsible for evaluating functional mobility,
neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and gross motor function to determine physical therapy needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level
and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time
depending on the District’s needs.

* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.

• Plans and implements educationally relevant goals and objectives including identifying
interventions and environmental modifications and planning the students’ Individual
Education Plans (I.E.P.s);
• Supervises and monitors job performance and caseload of Physical Therapist Assistants;
• Implements educationally relevant goals and objectives for students by determining
appropriate frame of reference, interventions, and environmental modifications necessary to achieve objectives;
• Plans and prepares activities for student including determining necessary assessments to analyze student qualification for services and the frequency and mode of treatment;
• Screens and evaluates referred students including determining necessary assessments to
analyze student qualification for services and the frequency and mode of treatment;
• Collaborates with educators and staff determining interventions that work; communicating
evaluation results; discussing relevant treatment issues; and assisting in the development of
department goals;
• Submits Medicaid (AHCCCS) billing as directed; and,
• Performs related work as assigned.

• Physical therapy subject matter such as anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, neuroanatomy,
and relevant medical terminology.

supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information
and to receive work direction.

Education and Experience:
Complete program in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution; or an equivalent
combination of directly-related education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Arizona Physical Therapy License.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
