Job Description:

·         Provide instructional coaching, classroom observations, feedback, modeling, and targeted support to special education teachers and paraprofessionals to improve instructional practices, curriculum implementation, classroom management, student engagement, and program effectiveness.

·         Support staff with lesson planning, scheduling, student grouping, behavior management, progress monitoring, assessment practices, data collection, and implementation of Teacher Growth Support Plans.

·         Plan, coordinate, and deliver professional development, IEP writing support, and other training opportunities for all special education staff.

Provide consultation, training, and support related to IEP development, implementation, compliance, and special education processes, including participation in MET and IEP meetings, as assigned.

·         Facilitate and participate in campus special education meetings, Preschool AZIP meetings, Child Find activities, district leadership meetings, and collaborative planning with administrators and related service providers, as assigned.

·         Monitor and support compliance with IDEA, state regulations, district procedures, special education timelines, audits, ADE requirements, and state reporting obligations.

·         Maintain accurate records, respond to staff and parent inquiries in a timely manner, and follow up on compliance concerns, action items, and department initiatives.

·         Serve as a mentor and resource for special education staff while supporting recruitment, interviews, onboarding, evaluations and retention efforts.

·         Represent the district at conferences, professional meetings, and training events and assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of special education programs and services, as assigned.

·         . Support and evaluate related service staff members.

·         Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Superintendent or designee.

SMUSD operates on a 4 day work week (Tuesday - Friday)
