Position available at Casa Grande Union High School. Full time. Grades 9-12. 

General Description of Duties Includes, but is not limited to: 

·        Serves students who receive special education services for the majority of the school             day.

·        Provides direct instruction in a special education setting.

·        Develops and implements IEPs.

·        Collaborates with related service providers, general education teachers, and families.

Position Summary

The Essentials level program Teacher provides standards-based instruction for students with disabilities who access the general education curriculum with modifications, accommodations, and specially designed instruction. Students participate in a departmentalized high school schedule and transition between classes each period.

The teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while addressing individual learning needs identified through the IEP process. The successful candidate will foster student independence, academic growth, self-advocacy, and progress toward graduation requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction aligned to Arizona Academic Standards and district curriculum.
  • Provide specially designed instruction based on individual student needs and IEP goals.
  • Modify coursework, assignments, assessments, and pacing while maintaining alignment to essential standards and course outcomes.
  • Implement accommodations and supports outlined in student IEPs.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection.
  • Maintain accurate special education documentation and compliance records.
  • Develop and maintain positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environments.
  • Teach and reinforce executive functioning, organization, self-advocacy, and study skills.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to grade-level content and consistent implementation of supports.
  • Work effectively with related service providers, paraprofessionals, counselors, and families.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team processes.
  • Support students in developing the skills necessary for successful participation in multiple educational settings.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of a wide range of disabilities and their impact on learning.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse academic and behavioral needs.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and intervention practices.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to high expectations and inclusive educational practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Experience implementing IEPs and providing specially designed instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching secondary students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of standards-based grading and curriculum modification.
  • Experience working within inclusive and co-teaching environments.
  • Training in behavior intervention, executive functioning supports, and assistive technology.

Program Characteristics

  • Students follow the general education curriculum and graduation requirements.
  • Instruction includes modifications, accommodations, and specially designed instruction aligned to general education power standards.
  • Students transition between classes each period within a traditional high school schedule.
  • Placement is determined by the IEP team with input from the ESS Coordinator and Assistant Principal of Instruction.
  • Class sizes typically range from 12-25 students.

Other:

Starting Salary: (pro-rated depending on start date)  $54,988 - Up to 20 years of verifiable teaching experience recognized at $500.00 per year (maximum $10,000)

206 contract days including 20 paid holidays.

Contract dates:  July 16, 2026- May 28,2027 (pro-rated contract after July 16, 2027)
