Salary Range:

$115,000.00 - $123,500.00 USD annually.

The Executive Director of Digital Academics is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the educational, instructional, curricular, special education, student service, and research functions of ASU Preparatory Academy’s educational services. This includes the overall strategic functions and collaborative implementation with Digital Principals to develop and maintain strong infrastructural leadership of strategic data-driven plans for curriculum, instruction, professional development, and student affair services.

This role will primarily serve Digital Secondary Academics, working in close partnership with school and network leadership to ensure alignment, coherence, and excellence across secondary programming, while collaborating across the broader Digital Academics team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree required; Doctorate preferred.

  • Administrative certification; Arizona preferred.

  • Previous experience as a Principal or Director, required.

  • 10 years of experience in educational leadership positions, overseeing curriculum or academics and driving significant results in a high-performance growth organization.

  • Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make recommendations and offer support to the Head of Schools Officer in planning the instructional, curricular, special education, student services and research affairs of ASU Preparatory Academy. 

  • Communicate and implement the ASU Preparatory Academy mission with the schools and community.

  • Supervise Digital leadership and instructional staff of ASU Preparatory Academy, under the supervision of the Head of Schools, in such a manner as to provide the best possible educational services with the resources available.

  • Supervise and evaluate the Program Managers and Testing Coordinator. 

  • Determine and obtain all services and programs legally authorized for ASU Preparatory Academy from all sources, local, state, federal, and other. 

  • Investigate methods to reduce excess costs and to derive maximum benefits for each student from the expenditure of each resource dollar.

  • Determine and implement methods to maximize the effectiveness of instructional, curricular, special education and research activities of ASU Preparatory Academy. 

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and make recommendations that will insure the most efficient and effective instructional, curricular, special education and research activities and procedures throughout the Organization.

  • Initiate, recommend, and carry into action, procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of instruction and instructional personnel.

  • Collaborate this the curriculum team to monitor curriculum review and revision cycle and analyze pupil differences, taking the necessary steps to implement clearly identified needed changes in the instructional program.

  • Works collaboratively with Digital & Global leadership to support all students across various grade levels and partnerships combined. That can range from various areas including, but not limited too: Global Academy, Digital+, Curriculum Support Services, Assessment & English Language Program, Career & Technical Education, and Exceptional Services.

  • Implements and manages ASU Prep instructional pedagogy and ensures its implementation in the school’s daily and overall curriculum.

  • Creates strategic plans for educational and instructional programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and the provisions of the district’s collective bargaining agreements.

  • Acts as a student advocate to ensure the rights of all students are respected and that all have equal access to the educational opportunities necessary to meet their needs and abilities; Oversees operations to protect student information, student safety, and academic integrity in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Prepare state and federally mandated reports concerning the instructional, curricular, special education and research activities of ASU Preparatory Academy.

  • Manages budget priorities based on instructional need in cooperation with budget division.

  • Work with the Head of Schools, Director of Human Capital Operations, Chief Financial Offer and instructional Site Principals in staffing the schools.

  • Collaborate with the other members of the Head of Schools - Digital immediate staff to make recommendations for ASU Preparatory Academy goals and objectives and long-range programs.

  • Participate in a continuing personal professional growth program.

  • Ensures all reports, master teaching schedules, records, and other paperwork are in compliance with state and federal guidelines. 

  • Lead in succession planning strategies for professional development for site leadership to create pathways and a strong leadership bench for future potential.

  • Analyze student data to identify and recommend needed changes in the instructional program to ensure that site employees demonstrate the enthusiasm, professional background, rigor and internalization of the ASU Prep way.

  • Oversees student safety and conduct, and enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with ASU Prep policy and the students’ rights to due process.

  • Ensures students have quality Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) and other parent/teacher conferences.

  • Responsible for overall strategy for articulated, consistent education for all students while encouraging staff to develop high yield strategies, techniques and activities that reflect instructional rigor and academic excellence.

  • Communicates the ASU Prep mission to school personnel, students, parents and community.

  • Promotes effective communication and cooperation among staff through regular staff meetings and department and network level meetings.

  • Implements strategies to promote a cooperative spirit among all the campuses to enhance the educational and social climate ASU Preparatory Academies. 

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Directly supervises employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salary recommendations. 

  • Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results. 

  • Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to assure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce.
