Job Description:

Position is open at Casa Grande Union High School

Position is responsible for teaching performing arts skills while also managing productions, fostering creativity, and supporting student development. Key responsibilities  include:

Instruction and Curriculum

• Develop and deliver theater curriculum aligned with state or district standards.
• Teach acting techniques, improvisation, stage movement, voice projection, and character development.
• Introduce students to theater history, dramatic literature, and various performance styles.
• Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.

Directing and Production Management

• Direct school plays, musicals, and other performances.
• Organize auditions and cast productions.
• Lead rehearsals and coach students on performance techniques.
• Coordinate production schedules and performance logistics.

Technical Theater Education

• Teach fundamentals of:
  • Stagecraft
  • Set design and construction
  • Lighting and sound design
  • Costume and makeup application
  • Props management
• Ensure students understand safe use of theater equipment and tools.

Student Development

• Build student confidence, communication, and public speaking skills.
• Foster teamwork, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
• Encourage artistic expression and appreciation for the performing arts.
• Support students with varying skill levels and learning needs.

Classroom and Program Management

• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behavior and student participation.
• Oversee theater budgets, inventory, costumes, scripts, and equipment.
• Recruit and retain students in theater programs.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

• Work with administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners.
• Coordinate performances, festivals, competitions, and special events.
• Promote theater programs through outreach and marketing efforts.
• Supervise student theater clubs or extracurricular activities.

Salary & Contract Information

• Starting salary: $54,988
• Experience credit: Up to 20 years of verifiable teaching experience recognized at $500 per year (maximum $10,000)
• 206 contract days, including 20 paid holidays
• Contract dates: July 16, 2026 – May 28, 2027
