TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL                                                                    PRELIMINARY COPY

DEPARTMENT: School 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a valid Arizona Principal Certification.
  2. Three years of verified teaching experience in grades Pre Kindergarten-12. 
  3. Completion of a program in educational administration for Principals. 
  4. A practicum as a Principal. 
  5. Three years experience as an Assistant Principal in grades Pre Kindergarten-12 (Preferred). 
  6. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  7. Must possess a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.

JOB GOAL: 

Under the general direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal creates, maintains, and facilitates leadership, supervisory, administrative, and managerial proficiencies to meet the needs, mission, goals, and objectives of the school and its stakeholders. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following tasks are essential for this position.  This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities.  Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.

  1. Complies with HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
  2. Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
  3. Monitors the condition of the building and grounds to assure a clean, orderly, and safely maintained environment.
  4. Supervises summer custodial work.
  5. Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.
  6. Safeguards health and well being of pupils and staff.
  7. Supervises summer school programs.
  8. Participates in Special Education Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.
  9. Administers and supervises In-School Suspension.
  10. Manages and supervises teachers’ duties and evaluations.
  11. Supervises daily bulletin/announcements.
  12. Supervises Registrar(s).
  13. Administers yearly review of school attendance policies.
  14. Maintains accurate and current attendance records.
  15. Performs evaluations of Certified and Classified staff members (including office staff).
  16. Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community’s understanding and support of the educational program.
  17. Maintains and improves the physical aspects of the school campus.
  18. Supervises students and crowds for some varsity athletic competitions, fine arts, and student activities.
  19. Assists in the selection, orientation, and development of school personnel.
  20. Administers and implements attendance policies and procedures.
  21. Establishes and maintains relationships with students that respect their dignity while being consistent in the application of students’ decorum procedures.
  22. Coordinates the high school data warehouse program.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

  13. Developing and evaluating school programs.

  15. Crisis management procedures.

  9. Analyze and problem solve.
  10. Create effective relationships with District staff, vendors and the community.

  12. Forecast trends, plan and implement goals.
  13. Develop school budget.

REPORTS TO: Principal 

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Principal in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy for evaluation of Administrative Personnel.

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months 

SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Administrative Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt
