QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Pursuant to A.R.S. 32-2091.12, Arizona licensure is required of BCBAs to deliver behavior analytic services in this state. Arizona Licensure - Behavior Analyst Information and Application
  2. Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
  3. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Experience in conducting in-services and training for staff.
  2. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills in the workplace.
  3. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  6. Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  9. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  10. Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  11. Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
  12. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  13. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with principals, teachers, and students throughout the district as needed, using his or her training and expertise to implement research based and effective strategies in the area of applied behavior analysis.
  2. Observe student behavior in order to implement appropriate positive behavioral interventions.
  3. Document observations of antecedents and triggers in a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) followed up by a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
  4. Provide leadership, instruction and support for staff working with behavioral at-risk students.
  5. Consult with teachers on behavior interventions, strategies and procedures.
  6. Write and implement Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
  7. Conduct district in-services, training all relevant staff on the implementation of proactive behavioral strategies.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) reports to the Director of Exceptional Student Services.  The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions.  All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
