SUMMARY
A Teacher in the Tucson Unified School District Two-Way Dual Language Program advances student achievement through effective management of the learning environment, including preparing lesson plans, evaluating, and monitoring student performance and progress in alignment with the 90/10 immersion model. Our teachers provide effective and equitable instruction to students in various planned courses to address both content and language learning goals. Our Teachers demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous learning and understand and appreciate diversity; they collaboratively develop instructional strategies that encourage students to analyze and interpret class material. Teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, respectful classroom to create an environment conducive to optimizing student strengths while simultaneously developing their natural curiosity and love of learning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
New to District, Two-Way Dual Language (TWDL) teachers are considered Hard to Fill and are eligible for a $5,000 stipend. The stipend is paid in two installments at the end of each semester. Pro-rated for employees who work less than 1.0FTE/207 days. “Make the Move” candidates are also eligible for this stipend if they have not received it previously.
REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE:
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students

EFFECTIVE: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Multiple Locations – District-Wide
FTE: Varies. Typical Teacher FTE 1.0, 7.5 hours per day.
WORK CALENDAR: 9.5 months – 207 days (212 days for new to district teachers)
