Position Overview

The HR Benefits Specialist / Administrative Assistant provides high-energy administrative support and serves as a primary resource for employee benefits communication. This role supports districtwide wellness initiatives, Open Enrollment, onboarding, and year-round benefits education while also managing essential HR administrative tasks such as board separation reports, personnel reports, volunteer packets, and substitute screenings.

Flexibility is essential—HR needs shift quickly, and we're looking for someone who can pivot with confidence and positivity.

What You'll Do

  • Support the HR Director by flagging priority items, assisting with scheduling, and managing calendar needs.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee benefits questions (phone, email, walk-ins).
  • Support Open Enrollment, benefits communication, and year-round benefits education.
  • Assist with wellness programs, challenges, and staff engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and assist with benefits-related leave processes.
  • Prepare board separation reports, personnel reports, and other HR documentation.
  • Process volunteer packets, IVP card verification, and substitute applicant screenings.
  • Assist the HR Specialist with onboarding tasks as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees, supervisors, and community partners.
  • Support HR projects, audits, compliance tasks, and department operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support HR and district needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in HR, benefits administration, payroll, or related administrative support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Experience in a school district or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with FMLA, ADA, and employment regulations.
