Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Protecting the health and welfare of GAHS students by consistently coordinating and communication with parents, students, teachers, staff, school administrators, and community healthcare resources. And to assist students with physical health, to identify and refer students with social/emotional needs that may hinder their personal well-being and academic progress to Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC) as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Required to maintain current health care records that include updated immunization records, submission of report to Arizona Department of Health and to input/gather data into the computer management system.

2.      Assist with medical examination and evaluation and refer cases to TCRHCC as necessary.

3.      Required to maintain health care records upholding confidentiality and exhibit excellent work ethics; protect student health records in locking filing cabinets.

4.      Do case management, record keeping and do clerical duties ensuring student’s records are recorded and filed accurately.

5.      Make referrals and correspondences with TCRHCC as needed; vision, hearing, pregnancy, medication/pharmacy, appointments, and all MEDICAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS.

6.      Coordinates transportation for student needs with School Counselors, Assistant Principal, Student Support Services, Contact Tracing Team, and Behavioral Health Specialist to meet student physical and mental health needs.

7.       Required to submit health reports to Academic Department/School Principal, Navajo Tribal Agencies/Programs, State Health Programs and BIE federal agency.

8.      Orders supplies for school nurse workstation; coordinate supply orders with TCRHCC; and responsible for pick up and returns.

9.      Do health assessment/evaluation on students and make necessary referrals to medical doctor as necessary. Including on-site COVID-19 test kits and pool testing, as necessary.

10.   Be able to communicate with parents, students, visitors and medical staff to insure health care concerns are addressed appropriately and on a timely manner.

11.    Coordinates and distribute educational materials to students in regards to Teen Pregnancy Program and other healthcare information provided by TCRHCC.

12.   Must stay well-informed about high school health care standards, teen breast-feeding program, immunizations requirements, and mandatory health care reports.

13.   Meets with parents and educate them on importance preventative measures on better health care, planned parenthood, dietary intake, STD, good eating habits, drug free, exercise, and its overall effect with personal health and academic progress.

14.   Communicates awareness of community health care issues with all GAHS students and staff in mitigating unsafe behaviors and conveying pandemic protocols.

15.   Adhere to CDC guidelines, clean, disinfect surfaces and equipment's on high touched areas, follow SDS specifications, maximize fresh air ventilation, wear PPE during cleaning process, regularly wash hands, and use hand sanitizer. Wear a face mask as prescribed.

16.   Demonstrate a high level of employee morale to promote a positive and productive work environment for all stakeholders.

17.   Performs other duties as assigned.
