Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:  To provide Exceptional Student Services (ESS) to Greyhills Academy High School student population; under general direction, manages and coordinates all ESS activities and assist with tutoring program and comply with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) laws and regulations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

1.       Coordinate the ESS Department’s daily educational activities and ensure quality teaching.

2.      Ensure the implementation of IDEA.

3.      Supervise staff in accordance with GAHS policies and procedures and follow through with ESS Departmental Handbook guidelines.

4.      Coordinate needed change based on process analysis.

5.      Schedule and conduct ESS staff meeting with Supervisors and School Administrators.

6.      Provide training in regard to ESS new update laws; IEP standards.

7.       Submit all required written reports to Supervisor before submitting to BIE and NN DODE office for compliance reporting.

8.      Assist staff to resolve complex policies problems in regards to Special Education rules.

9.      Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignment/rotations and employee training.

10.   Maintains caseload and conduct IEP meetings for students assigned.

11.    Represent GAHS ESS Department and advocate to service for ESS students in obtaining necessary services.

12.   Attends national, regional, and tribal level Special Education conference; provide cross training at ESS departmental level.

13.   Directs and coordinates Special Education programs with contract/grant school, BIE federal ESS requirements and coordinate with DODE policies systems, public agencies, and state institutions to teach students with identified disabilities and coordinating with the Assistant Principal.

14.   Formulates policies and procedures for new or revised programs or activities, such as screening, placement, education, and training of students.

15.   Evaluates Special Education programs to ensure that objectives for student education are met.

16.   Interprets laws, rules, and regulations to students, parents, and staff.

17.   Recruits, selects, and evaluates staff for Special Education Department.

18.   Prepares budget and solicits funds to provide financial support for programs.

19.   Prepares reports for federal, state, and local/tribal regulatory agencies.

20.  May contract with agencies for needed services, such as clinical/psychological services and follow through with GAHS financial/budgetary protocol process.

21.   May administers achievement tests to measure student level of performance as directed by Principal.

22.  Adhere to CDC guidelines, clean, disinfect surfaces and equipment’s on high touched areas, follow SDS specifications, maximize fresh air ventilation, wear PPE during cleaning process, regularly wash hands, and use hand sanitizer. Wear a face mask as prescribed.

23.  Demonstrate a high level of employee morale to promote a positive and productive work environment for all stakeholders.

24.  Performs other duties as assigned.
