Job Description:

Educational Assistant-Student Support (Emotional Disability)

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-centered Educational Assistant to support a student with an Emotional Disability (ED) in the school setting.  The Educational Assistant will work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and administration to suppor the student's academic, behavioral, social, and emotional success throughout the school day.

Responsibilities:

-Provide direct support to the student in academic and classroom activities

-Assist with implementing behavior intervention plans and classroom accommodations

-Support the student with emotional regulation, coping strategies, and positive social interactions

-Help maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment

-Monitor student behavior and provide redirection and encouragement as needed

-Assist with transitions throughout the school day

-Communicate effectively with teachers and support staff regarding student progress and concerns

-Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

-Collect data and document student progress as directed by the special education team

-Support participation in general education and special education settings as appropriate

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent required

-Associate degree or paraprofessional certification preferred

-Experience working with children with behavorial, emotional, or special education needs preferred

-Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in challenging situations

-Strong communication and teamwork skills

-Ability to follow directions and implement student support plans consistently

Preferred Skills:

-Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and positive behavior supports

-Experience working in educational settings

-Ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move throughout the school environment

-Ability to assist during behavioral or safety situations when necessary
