The Academic Evaluator supports the school psychologist and special education team by conducting academic assessments for students referred for special education evaluations and re-evaluations. This position assists in gathering academic data, administering standardized and curriculum-based assessments, organizing evaluation materials, and supporting compliance with state and federal special education requirements.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and experienced in working with students in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
Administer standardized academic assessments under the supervision of the school psychologist
Conduct classroom observations and collect academic performance data
Assist in preparing evaluation reports and maintaining confidential student records
Collaborate with school psychologists, special education staff, and general education teachers
Help coordinate evaluation schedules and communicate assessment timelines
Ensure assessments are administered according to standardized protocols
Support compliance with IDEA timelines, FERPA, and district policies
Participate in Assessment Planning Team meetings as appropriate
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field
Experience working with students in school settings preferred
Knowledge of special education processes and assessment practices preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Experience with educational data systems and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience assisting with academic testing or intervention programs
Familiarity with standardized academic assessments
Experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs

Reports To: Director of Exceptional Student Services
Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Starting Salary: $25,000-$35,000 commensurate with experience
