High School Math Teacher Extraordinaire + Sign On BONUS
Full-Time 40 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY
Hope High School is seeking the right qualified and passionate individual to fill a full-time math teaching position for the 2026-2027 school year. Note: There is also a possibility for the selected candidate to begin during the current school year in a team-teaching role. Hope High School is located at 75th Ave & Lower Buckeye in Southwest Phoenix and is a great small learning environment dedicated to inspiring our students to be champions of their own learning.
Hope High School is an alternative public high school serving students who have not found success at their prior schools. We utilize alternative methods along with some TLC and strong teamwork to help our students find success. Teachers both facilitate independent study class periods and teach direct instruction type lessons depending on student needs.
START DATE SCHEDULE
- Possible Team Teaching Role - ASAP (normally a 1 week hiring turnaround)
- July 22-24, 2026 - New teacher orientation
- July 27-August 1, 2026 - Staff Back to School In-Service
- August 3, 2026 - First Day of School
OVERALL ESSENTIAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver quality, standards-based math instruction to students
- Monitor data and adjust instruction to increase student learning
- Implement school goals related to student proficiency, growth, graduation rate, and attendance
- Manage student safety and learning in the classroom
PRIMARY GOALS SPECIFIC TO THIS SCHOOL/PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT
- Duties associated with Domain 1 – Planning and Preparation of Effective Instruction
- Duties associated with Domain 2 – Maintaining a Classroom Environment of Learning
- Duties associated with Domain 3 – Instruction
- Duties associated with Domain 4 – Professional Responsibility and Leadership
ADDITIONAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design effective instructional lessons with measurable and clear objectives that are aligned to mathematics standards
- Deliver quality instruction to students utilizing best practices including blended learning
- Implement school culture
- Manage and model expectations of student behavior
- Communicate with students and parents regarding academic progress
- Use a variety of methods and techniques to engage students in learning and increase rigor
- Meet the diverse needs of an alternative student population
- Maintain accurate student records and provide timely feedback to students concerning assessments of their learning
- Provide recognition to students for effort and academic success and growth
- Reflect on teaching and seek to increase knowledge of the content area and instructional strategies
- Attend student services meetings (i.e. ESS and EL)
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Highly qualified status in Math
- Current Arizona Teaching Certificate (Preferred)
- Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Required before start)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED
- Ability to work with others on a team
- Self-motivation
- Computer literate
- Manage timelines and meet deadlines
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to:
- Stand for several hours a day during instructional time
- Move around the classroom and school with efficiency
ORGANIZATIONAL/CULTURE RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will be an integral part of a strong and unifying team culture
- All teachers work in two types of teams: PLC made up of instructional staff and instructional leadership (with a focus on academic achievement and instructional improvement) as well as a cross-functional Scrum team made up of teachers and support staff (with a focus on school/student/staff culture and overall school improvement)
- You will challenge yourself daily to inspire students to make better choices and be champions of their own learning
- You have the ability to share innovative and creative ways to move the organization forward
- You have the passion to help students realize their potential
