Job Summary
The Capital Projects Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Information Modeling (BIM) Analyst within Capital Projects Planning, Development & Sustainability team with Maricopa Community Colleges plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the District's built environment. This position creates and manages structural drawings, 3D models, and design data using tools such as AutoCAD, BIM platforms, and other construction design technologies.
The Capital Projects CAD & BIM Analyst role includes developing and analyzing data to support planning and decision-making, while also enhancing system processes through implementation, integration, and continuous improvement efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys blending design, data, and technology to support impactful capital projects.
Essential Functions
25% - Utilizes software technologies to update and store information, produce designs, or perform other work as needed:
• Creates and updates digital renderings and fly-through models of college facilities, structures, site utilities, and grounds, including interior and exterior architectural elements, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy systems
• Performs field verification, recording, and photography to ensure accuracy of information
• Evaluates current drawings for accuracy
• Updates drawings as required
• Reviews and validates building and design models to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent
25% - Collaborates with senior/principal project managers, architects and engineers, consultants, vendors, contractors, and management to establish design needs and requirements:
• Provides coordination of administrative details and technical specifications for projects or programs
20% - Creates presentations for project management teams:
• Sends facility files to contractors and consultants to assist with work designed by others
• Collects data and authors original reports
• Explains complex and technical information to others
• Review reports and designs of others to ensure accuracy
• Generates logistical renderings, analyses, and report tools for site maps, evacuation maps, various versions of campus maps, and other visual representations of college buildings and properties for college safety, ADA, and emergency planning
• Reviews and verifies the accuracy and completeness of modeling output, ensuring alignment with construction documentation
• Creates presentations for project management teams
• Sends facility files to contractors and consultants to assist with work designed by others
20% - Maintains library of construction drawings, technical design specifications, and operations literature to include digital and hard copy, including sealed and archived plans:
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date modeling or design documentation, including model versions, markups, and change logs
• Consults with information technology staff in the design, update, and troubleshooting of assigned systems, and assists in resolving technical issues related to assigned software technologies
• Researches, compares, and evaluates new technology to manage structural and design-related information
10% - Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or certificate from a regionally accredited institution in engineering, architecture, virtual design and construction, computer-aided design, drafting and design technology, building information modeling (BIM), or a related field, and two (2) years of drafting and/or construction modeling work experience.

An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience as described above, sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered
Desired Qualifications
• Experience in specialized software and equipment relevant to the area of assignment (i.e., CAD, BIM, Revit, etc.)
• Experience developing and maintaining methods for organizing design and construction documents, including documents generated by architects, engineers, and other consultants
• Experience in basic principles and practices of construction project management
• Experience developing and maintaining Excel spreadsheets
• One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
Special Working Conditions
• Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Work is routinely performed in an indoor office environment. Occasionally, some tasks may require field inspections with exposure to a variety of weather conditions, for short or long durations, including rain, wind, dust, cold temperatures, and extreme desert heat.
• Depending on the assignment area, travel to various locations within or outside the District may be required.

• Depending on the assignment and work task, the position may be required to utilize or wear safety equipment or personal protective equipment (PPE) as determined
