5/6 Grade ELA Teacher (26/27 SY)Center for Academic Success—Sierra Vista
Reports to: Principal
Job Classification: Exempt
Position Type: This is a full time, 10-month position. Monday through Friday. Standard days and hours of work are 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Start Date: The anticipated start date for this position is July 2026. Applicants must be available to begin on or after this date.
Essential Job Duties
- Design, develop, and deliver quality lesson plans and curricula adhering to state and school guidelines.
- Create and administer assessments, providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
- Provide additional resources, support, and interventions for struggling students.
- Foster a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing concerns.
- Grade papers, maintain records, and perform various administrative tasks.
- Participate in school activities and communicate regularly with parents.
- Teach grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and other English language principles.
- Promote students' appreciation for literature and comprehension skills.
- Develop students' writing skills, verbal skills through reading aloud, discussion, and debate.
- Encourage the development of critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate dedication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in tense situations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience with MS Office, Google Classroom, and other relevant software.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required at time of hire)
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employer does not sponsor employment-based visas.
- Fluent in English; written and oral communication.
- Experience in education.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.Work Environment: This job operates in a school setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
