Job Description:

Upper Elementary Teacher (4th–6th Grade)
Montessori Education Centre (MEC)

Montessori Education Centre is seeking a passionate and collaborative educator to join our Upper Elementary (4th–6th grade) team. This is a unique opportunity to become part of an established, dynamic classroom community, working alongside two experienced guides in a supportive, child-centered environment.

We are looking for either a state-credentialed teacher or a trained Upper Elementary Montessori guide who is committed to fostering independence, curiosity, and a love of learning in children.

About the Role

As part of our Upper Elementary team, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with two experienced educators to support a thriving classroom community
  • Guide students through an integrated, inquiry-based curriculum
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of children ages 9–12
  • Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Contribute to a cohesive and respectful learning environment rooted in Montessori principles
  • Help bring learning to life through experiential opportunities, including regular field trips that extend classroom studies throughout the year

Signature Upper Elementary Experiences

  • Participate in our 6th Grade Capstone Trip to New York and Boston, part of an established curriculum that deepens students’ understanding of history, culture, and independence
  • Support and help plan meaningful, curriculum-connected field trips that enrich learning beyond the classroom

What We’re Looking For

  • State teaching credential or Montessori Upper Elementary certification (AMI/AMS or equivalent preferred)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • A reflective, growth-oriented mindset
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and whole-child education

Why You’ll Love Being Part of MEC

  • Competitive Benefits Package – Health & dental insurance, 403b with matching funds
  • Work-Life Balance – 9 paid leave days, summers & holidays off
  • Inclusive Team Culture – Collaborate with a supportive, child-centered teaching team
  • Focus on Growth – Opportunities for continued professional development

Join Our Community

At MEC, we believe in nurturing both children and educators. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values connection, professional growth, and the joy of learning.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply and become part of our vibrant Upper Elementary community.
