Job Title: Dean of Students (TOSA)
Job Type: Full-time, 12-month contract
Reports to: Principal
Staff to manage: Behavior Interventionist
Department: Discipline
Location: On campus (Not eligible for remote work)
POSITION OVERVIEW:The Dean of Students plays a critical leadership role in supporting a positive, safe, and structured school environment. This position oversees student discipline, attendance, and behavior support systems while partnering with staff, students, and families to promote student success. The Dean of Students also supports campus operations, safety, and school-wide initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:Note: The essential functions below describe the general requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Responsibilities:
Student Support Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement a consistent, restorative, and trauma-informed discipline system.
- Investigate incidents and apply appropriate interventions and consequences.
- Support teachers with classroom management and student engagement strategies.
- Provide direct support to students with behavioral, emotional, or academic needs.
- Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans and incentive programs.
- Maintain CPI certification and respond to student crises as needed.
Attendance & Student Success:
- Monitor daily attendance and address chronic absenteeism and truancy.
- Partner with students and families to improve attendance outcomes.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with families regarding attendance concerns.
- Track and document attendance interventions and outcomes.
- Implement and support the C.U.T.S. program with fidelity.
Campus Leadership:
- Support overall school operations and act on behalf of the Principal when needed.
- Supervise and support staff, including the Behavior Interventionist.
- Assist with staff meetings, school events, and student activities.
- Administer and facilitate Parent Committee meetings as assigned.
- Coordinate staff duty schedules to ensure proper campus supervision.
- Adjust staff duty coverage schedule as needed throughout the school year.
School Safety and Emergency Operations:
- Support implementation of the school’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
- Serve on the school safety and crisis response team.
- Assist with campus supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and transitions.
- Respond to safety incidents and collaborate with school safety personnel.
Assessment Coordination:
- Coordinate logistics for school-wide testing, including scheduling and student movement.
- Ensure compliance with testing procedures and security protocols.
- Communicate testing expectations to staff and students.
Other Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administration to support the overall mission of the school.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education.
- Experience working with student discipline, behavior systems, and family engagement.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to support school events, activities, and family engagement opportunities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
- Bilingual (preferred).
BACKGROUND CHECKS:
- The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
- Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.
PHYSICAL/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
- This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Twelve-month employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
