Director - Professional Learning and Leadership Development (Effective 2026-2027
School Year)

The Tucson Unified School District is looking for a dynamic leader to spearhead our district’s professional learning and leadership development initiatives. You will direct the implementation of instructional coaching systems and teacher induction programs while ensuring all professional growth is research-based and aligned with district strategic goals. This role is pivotal in building educator capacity, strengthening leadership pipelines, and utilizing data to continuously refine our impact on teaching and learning.

Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning


SUMMARY
The Director of Professional Learning and Leadership Development provides strategic leadership for the design, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive professional learning system that strengthens instructional practice and builds leadership capacity across the district. This position ensures that professional learning, coaching systems, and leadership development programs are aligned with district instructional priorities, curriculum implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.
The Director works collaboratively with district leaders, school administrators, instructional
coaches, and teacher leaders to build a coherent professional learning infrastructure that
supports high-quality instruction, improves educator effectiveness, builds leadership capacity, and accelerates student achievement.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction or related educational field.
  • Valid Administrative Certificate or Principal Certificate.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Five (5) years of successful experience as a school administrator or central leadership role.
  • Three (3) years of program management experience designing and overseeing professional learning systems or leadership development programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral Degree in Education, Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction or related educational field.
  • Valid Arizona PreK-12 Teaching Certificate.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing and leading districtwide professional learning initiatives.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing instructional systems, procurement of curricular
    materials, and mentorship.
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising, evaluating, or mentoring school principals or district administrators.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a School or District Administrator in K-12 Education.
  • One (1) year of experience creating and delivering formal presentations.

POSITION SPECIFICS
EFFECTIVE: 2026-2027 School Year
LOCATION: Tucson Unified School District - 1010 E. 10th Street
FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
SALARY RANGE: $90,597.54 - $105,180.94 - Commensurate with Experience

WORK CALENDAR: 12 month
START DATE: July 1, 2026
