Job Description:

ASA’s mission is to inspire creative thinkers and leaders through providing an innovative concentration in college preparation informed by the performing arts.

As a member of ASA’s Choir Department, this faculty member will teach two middle school classes and two high school classes. There are approximately 40 students per class with a total of four classes in one content area per day. The curriculum includes the skills of rehearsal etiquette, vocal pedagogy, sight-singing in solfege (movable DO), diction, and theory as applicable for the content of the class. Knowledge of adolescent boys’ changing voices is essential. The ASA choir program is a collaborative team of four faculty and nine different choirs. Each faculty member teaches their own levels. The faculty members collaborate on all performing events, department retreats, sectionals, and overall curricular continuity.

Arts teachers have daily prep time for curriculum planning,  meeting, integrating, and assessing.  The curriculum is to align with the national and state performing arts standards and social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies. They will also be asked to differentiate their curriculum using additional resources as needed to support student growth and achievement. This teacher works closely with  the Choir Department.
