Salary Range:

$70,000.00 - $79,000.00 USD annually.

The Assistant Principal of Operations, ASUP West Valley is a core member of the School Leadership Team and is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of all operational systems. Leading the day-to-day operations of the school, builds and maintains strong systems, and partners closely with instructional leadership to create a safe, efficient, and mission-aligned academic and cultural environment. The Academic Operations Manager ensures operational excellence so that teachers can teach and students can learn at the highest levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, required. Master’s degree, preferred.

  • State of Arizona Teaching Certificate, required.

  • 3 years of direct instructional experience, required.

  • 1-2 years of experience managing educational programs, grants, operational systems or similar projects.

  • Experience with academic data systems such as Infinite Campus, Canvas, DIBELS, and/or Navvy.

  • Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee all daily operations across the school, including collaborating with discipline-related systems to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment.

  • Serve as the primary operational leader and point of contact for all school-based operational needs.

  • Partner with the Principal and leadership team to align operational systems to the academic and cultural vision of the school.

  • Participate actively in School Leadership Team meetings and strategic planning.

  • Manage and develop operations staff members, ensuring clear goals, accountability structures, and successful implementation of their workstreams (e.g., attendance, purchasing, invoice processing, front office systems).

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to operations team members.

  • Ensure operational staff maintain strong customer service for students, families, vendors, and staff.

  • Support accountability systems across staff to ensure operational deliverables are met with urgency and precision.

  • Develop and manage the master school schedule, including teacher schedules, student schedules, classroom assignments, and duty assignments.

  • Own and implement a daily staff coverage system to ensure instructional continuity and smooth transitions.

  • Maintain accurate scheduling systems throughout the school year as needs evolve.

  • Manage facilities management to ensure the school building is safe, clean, well-maintained, and compliant with applicable regulations.

  • Oversee vendor relationships and facilities-related projects.

  • Lead safety protocols, drills, and compliance documentation.

  • Ensure operational readiness for inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.

  • Lead operational planning for major school events, testing logistics, family engagement events, and schoolwide initiatives.

  • Collaborate with network stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity across systems and expectations.

  • Support student persistence and enrollment systems, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and family communication.

  • Track and manage staff time off and operational calendars.

  • Partner with instructional leaders, deans, and other stakeholders to ensure operational systems reinforce school culture and academic rigor.

  • Build and refine systems that increase efficiency, clarity, and sustainability.

  • Anticipate challenges and proactively problem-solve to ensure minimal disruption to instruction.

  • Participate in other academic or operational initiatives as assigned by network leadership.

  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Directly supervises employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salary recommendations. 

  • Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results. 

  • Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to ensure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with technology, computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with Infinite Campus

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and analyze data to inform strategic decision making. 

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, accountability, and a proactive sense of urgency. 

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a professional environment, effectively collaborating with stakeholders at both the school and network levels.

Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
