Title: Human Resource Generalist
General Description:
The Human Resources Generalist is the first point of contact for all Human Resources needs for designated staff. Under the direction of the Executive Director for Human Resources, the Generalist will conduct all Human Resources-related tasks.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of job-related experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and correspondence.
- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Affordable Care Act (ACA), Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, and Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
- Ability to work on multiple assignments with consistent accurate work.
- Successful completion of the Professional in Human Capital Leader in Education Certification (preferred).
- Experience with I-Visions Enterprise software program (preferred).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issues Intents to Employ and Contracts to classified employees.
- Processes all new hire information and documentation for onboarding according to pertinent state and federal requirements.
- Compose documents for the purpose of communicating information to school and district personnel, the public, state officials, etc.
- Maintains and interprets various employment files, records, policies, and procedures for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of employee's compensation, maintaining eligibility for position and complying with all federal/state/district regulations.
- Responds to inquiries of staff and the public for the purpose of disseminating information on employment positions and providing direction as may be required.
- Collaborate with administrators in the recruiting of staff process, through advertising and attending recruiting events.
- Prepare information for the Governing Board on topics as may be necessary.
- Create and maintain files and reports for the Arizona State Department of Education.
- Verify employment for current/previous staff.
- Maintain department and school staffing rosters for all classified positions.
- Maintain a roster of classified employee evaluations, provide principals and directors with reports for upcoming/missing evaluations.
- Process fingerprint background checks for district employees through AZ Dept public Safety, as necessary.
- Responsible for ADE School District Employee Report (SDER) for Classified staff.
- Act as the first point of contact and respond to employee relations concerns related to staff.
- Brief new and existing employees on benefit programs: health, dental, vision, life, disability, flex spending plans, and retirement.
- Complete and verify paperwork, documentation, and records within their respective timeframes and deadlines.
- Verify all changes to coverage on monthly premiums for health and disability reports.
- Process employee benefits selection through the system of record for the purpose of accurate payroll deductions for health and optional benefits coverage chosen at the time of hire and/or changed during the fiscal year.
- Reconcile active and retired employees' benefit options within the Arizona State Retirement System.
- Process all insurance billing, including but not limited to, reconciliation of files, submission of invoices for payment, and check deposits.
- Assist, process, maintain accurate records, and communicate with employees regarding leave requests, including but not limited to, health-related disability leave, leave without pay, FMLA, etc.
- Process Worker's Compensation claims, return to work orders, and OSHA reports.
- Act as a liaison between employees and service providers and assist in problem resolution.
- Preparing and facilitates with new hire onboarding and orientations.
- Organize and assist with employee wellness programs, such as health fairs, monthly wellness events and on site benefit information meetings.
- Track and maintain accurate Wellness Incentive Program records and process earned contributions for applicable employees.
- Maintain the benefits related sections of the Staff Information Guide with the most current information.
- Respond to AEA, ASBA and other survey requests regarding benefits and salaries.
- Organize and facilitate Insurance Committee Meetings for the purpose of establishing the district benefits for the following year.
- Prepare and present information to the Governing Board as may be necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance for this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provision of Board Policy GDO - Evaluation of Support Staff Members.

FLSA Status: Exempt Compensation Range: Per Year
Status: Classified Exempt - Salary Schedule and District Benefits Package
Terms of Employment: 1.0 FTE, 12-Months; Full Time 40hrs/week; 251 District Support Work Calendar
