Job Description:

Position Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Imagine Coolidge
Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services / Site Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position
Salary: $90,000-$100,000
License Required:  Arizona Department of Education Certificate (Speech-Language Pathologist PreK–12)

Position Summary:

The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services for students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders. The SLP collaborates with educators, administrators, and families to support students in achieving their educational goals while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including IDEA and Arizona Department of Education guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations using standardized and functional assessment tools.
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to address students’ communication needs.
  • Provide direct therapy to students with identified speech and language disorders, following evidence-based practices.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide expertise regarding communication development, disorders, and recommended supports.
  • Serve as a resource to teachers and staff in the development of classroom strategies and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and outside agencies to support students’ communication goals.
  • Provide services in various settings, including general education classrooms, pull-out sessions, and small groups.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with Medicaid billing (if applicable), IDEA, and district standards.
  • Engage in professional development to remain current with state licensure requirements and best practices in the field.
  • Supervise speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) when assigned, in accordance with Arizona licensure requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Valid Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) license as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (Criminal Clearance)
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate (PreK–12)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Arizona special education regulations, and best practices for service delivery in schools

Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech and language services to students under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) requirements, IDEA, and charter policies. The SLPA assists with implementing IEP-aligned speech-language services to support students’ communication, academic, and social development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Implement speech-language therapy activities as outlined in students’ IEPs and designed by the supervising SLP
  • Provide services to students individually or in small groups under SLP supervision
  • Follow therapy plans targeting articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social-communication skills
  • Use evidence-based instructional and therapeutic strategies

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and data collection in compliance with IDEA and Arizona requirements
  • Support the SLP with progress monitoring and reporting toward IEP goals
  • Ensure confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA
  • Adhere to timelines and service minutes as outlined in students’ IEPs

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate regularly with the supervising SLP regarding student progress, concerns, and needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student outcomes
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as required (excluding independent IEP decision-making)

Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow all ethical guidelines established by ADHS and the supervising SLP
  • Maintain professional conduct and positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Attend required professional development and supervision meetings

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
  • Arizona SLPA License issued by ADHS (required)
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (Criminal Clearance)

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of speech-language intervention techniques
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to follow therapy plans and supervision directives
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
