Job Description:

Acorn Montessori School is seeking a passionate and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate believes every child can succeed, builds strong relationships with students and families, and collaborates closely with general education teachers and support staff to provide meaningful, individualized instruction.

This role focuses on helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while ensuring compliance with special education laws and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Provide direct instruction and intervention for students with disabilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusion and differentiation

• Track student progress and adjust instruction based on data

• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress

• Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings

• Maintain required documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

• Work with paraprofessionals and support staff to support student success

• Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field

• Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)

• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and progress monitoring

• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• Commitment to inclusive practices and student growth

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a K–8 setting

• Experience with diverse learning needs including autism, learning disabilities, and developmental delays

• Familiarity with data-driven instruction and MTSS
