Job Description:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Evaluation & Program Psychologist provides districtwide leadership for psychoeducational evaluations, ensuring compliance, consistency, and high-quality assessment practices. The role also delivers specialized counseling and oversight for Level D programs, integrating clinical expertise with program monitoring to support students with intensive needs. Serving as a districtwide resource, the psychologist supports complex evaluations, counseling services, and program quality across sites.

MAJOR TASKS:

●        Districtwide Evaluation Oversight

o    Oversee psychoeducational evaluations to ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations

o    Coordinates with evaluation contractors

o    Establish and monitor assessment procedures, timelines, and quality assurance standards

o    Provide consultation and technical assistance on evaluation planning, reporting, and eligibility determination

o    Review complex or high-risk evaluations and eligibility decisions

o    Support dispute resolution, due process preparation, and responses to parent concerns

●        Level D Program Counseling & Support

o    Provide direct counseling services to Level D students in accordance with IEPs

o    Collaborate with teachers, behavior staff, administrators, and BCBAs to support social-emotional and behavioral needs

o    Support crisis intervention, safety planning, and coordination of FBAs and BIPs with BCBA.

●        Program Oversight & Monitoring

o    Conduct site visits and program tours for monitoring, placement considerations, and parent or district review

o    Monitor program fidelity, service delivery, and student outcomes in Level D settings

o    Provide recommendations for program improvement and alignment with district expectations

●        Consultation & Collaboration

o    Serve as a district-level consultant to administrators, school teams, and families

o    Participate in placement, manifestation determination, and problem-solving meetings as needed

o    Collaborate with ESS leadership to align evaluation and counseling services with district priorities

●        Training & Professional Development

o    Provide training and ongoing coaching to school psychologists on assessment practices, compliance, and best practices

o    Support staff development in trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention, and counseling supports for Level D programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

●        Masters Degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of additional graduate work in education and psychology.  (Doctorate Preferred)

●        Have an Arizona School Psychologist’s Certificate.

●        Have experience in planning, implementing, and supervising Special Education Programs.

●        Show effective interpersonal and communication skills.
