Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Paraprofessional

Prescott Valley Charter School | Arizona

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a highly capable, high-accountability ESS Paraprofessional committed to student growth, structure, and responsibility.

 

This role is NOT for someone who wants to sit on their phone, be passive, or allow students to control the classroom.

 

This role IS for a professional who understands that clear expectations, consistency, and adult leadership allow students with special needs to succeed.

 

ESS paraprofessionals at PVCS are active instructional partners—not babysitters.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Student Support & Accountability

• Support students with disabilities in alignment with IEPs and behavior plans

• Reinforce classroom expectations and routines consistently

• Promote student independence, self-regulation, and responsibility

• Redirect behavior proactively and appropriately

• Maintain firm, respectful boundaries with students

 

Instructional Support

• Assist teachers with instruction and interventions

• Support small-group and one-on-one learning

• Help students stay engaged and accountable for work completion

• Implement accommodations and modifications

• Collect data on student progress when required

 

Team Collaboration

• Collaborate with ESS teachers, general education teachers, and administrators

• Follow plans and expectations with fidelity

• Communicate concerns professionally

• Accept feedback and coaching

 

Professional Conduct & Expectations

• Remain actively engaged during all instructional time

• Personal phone use during student time is not permitted

• Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliability

• Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Strong presence and ability to manage behavior

• Willingness to be coached and held accountable

• Physical ability to assist students

 

Preferred:

• Experience working with students with disabilities

• Behavior management or de-escalation training

• Bilingual (Spanish a plus)
