JOB GOAL:
The Coordinator of Secondary Teaching and Learning provides district-level leadership to support the implementation and monitoring of high-quality secondary curriculum and instruction, ensuring instructional coherence and effective implementation within a mastery learning framework. This role supports instructional improvement through classroom walkthroughs, analysis of instructional and student data, and collaboration with site and district teams to ensure fidelity to district-adopted curriculum, strong Tier 1 instruction, and intentional reteach and enrichment practices, with particular attention to student learning in mathematics across grade levels and courses. The Coordinator strengthens content-area PLC practices and builds teacher and leader capacity through aligned curriculum resources, assessments, and instructional supports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate Required
- Valid Arizona K-12 Administrative Certificate Required
- Secondary Math Endorsement or Math Approved Area on Teaching Certificate Preferred
- School Level Administrative Experience Preferred
- Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating high-quality professional learning and job-embedded coaching for educators.
- Knowledge of research-based mathematics instruction, intervention, and assessment practices
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with site and district leaders to ensure instructional coherence and consistency across PK-12 systems.
- Deep knowledge of state standards and research-based instruction
- Experience in working collaboratively with a wide variety of administrators, faculty, and staff, and others in multiple departments across the District.
- Must pass a background clearance.
- Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 Days; 12 Months

EVALUATION: As per QCUSD District policy
HOURS: 40 hours per week and may require longer hours - Monday-Friday

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Provide district-level leadership to strengthen instructional quality across grades seven through twelve and across all content areas, with a targeted and sustained emphasis on improving mathematics instruction, coherence, and implementation.; Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs during core math instructional periods, using a standardized observation tool to monitor fidelity to instructional expectations and instructional frameworks.; Analyze walkthrough data and instructional trends to identify strengths, gaps, and priority needs across secondary sites, with focused attention to mathematics instructional practices.
- Provide timely, clear, and actionable feedback to principals, instructional coaches, and department leaders based on walkthrough observations.; Prepare and present quarterly instructional trend reports and recommended focus areas to secondary principals, aligning findings to professional development planning and district priorities.
- Observe and support PLC meetings across content areas, especially mathematics, to monitor alignment to standards, instructional practices, assessment use, and collaborative structures.; Provide detailed written feedback to principals, department chairs, instructional coaches, and supervisory staff
- Facilitate collaboration meetings with department chairs, PLC leads, and instructional coaches to review student data, identify instructional needs, share best practices, and design job-embedded professional learning.; Build the instructional leadership capacity of department chairs and instructional coaches to lead strong instruction in all subjects, with specialized coaching and support for mathematics instructional leadership and intervention systems.
- Support consistent implementation of instructional expectations and collaborative processes across secondary sites to promote coherence and continuous improvement.; Design, develop, and deliver high-quality professional learning experiences that improve instructional practices across secondary content areas, prioritizing high-leverage strategies for mathematics instruction and student engagement.
- Implement professional development using multiple delivery models, including in-person, virtual, and asynchronous formats, to meet the diverse needs of secondary educators and leaders.; Maintain accurate professional development attendance and credit hour records and ensure timely entry into district systems and consistent communication with Human Resources and site administrators.
- Coordinate the scheduling, deployment, and support of demonstration teachers to provide model lessons, instructional modeling, and professional development aligned with district initiatives.; Provide leadership in the implementation and ongoing refinement of secondary curriculum and instructional resources across content areas, ensuring alignment with district goals, instructional frameworks, and state standards.
- Collaborate with site leadership and department chairs to support the implementation of QCUSD grading practices across secondary schools.; Partner with instructional coaches, Educational Services staff, and Beyond Textbooks liaisons to ensure pacing calendars, instructional resources, and curriculum materials are coherent, vertically aligned, and responsive to student needs, with particular attention to mathematics alignment and rigor.; Support new secondary teachers and mentors by facilitating communication, responding to needs, and monitoring participation in Secondary New Teacher Orientation and the Mentor Program.
- Provide resources, mentorship, and cohort facilitation for National Board Certification candidates while monitoring progress toward certification milestones.; Assist secondary Aspire2Teach candidates by supporting program requirements, mentoring structures, professional development opportunities, and pathways toward certification and successful secondary placement.
- Support alignment and coherence across curriculum, assessment, and instruction to ensure consistent expectations and high-quality learning experiences for all secondary students.; Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
