JOB GOAL:

The Coordinator of Elementary Teaching and Learning provides district-level leadership to support the implementation and monitoring of high-quality elementary curriculum and instruction, ensuring instructional coherence and effective implementation within a mastery learning framework. This role supports instructional improvement through classroom walkthroughs, analysis of instructional and student data, and collaboration with site and district teams to ensure fidelity to district-adopted curriculum, strong Tier 1 instruction, and intentional reteach and enrichment practices, with particular attention to student learning in mathematics. The Coordinator strengthens PLC practices and builds teacher and leader capacity through aligned curriculum resources, assessments, and instructional supports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate Required
  • Valid Arizona K-12 Administrative Certificate Required
  • Math Endorsement or Math Approved Area on Teaching Certificate Preferred
  • School Level Administrative Experience Preferred
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating high-quality professional learning and job-embedded coaching for educators.
  • Knowledge of research-based mathematics instruction, intervention, and assessment practices
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with site and district leaders to ensure instructional coherence and consistency across PK-12 systems.
  • Demonstrates mastery of elementary content area standards
  • Experience in designing, creating, and delivering innovative instructional materials and program on the use of technology to enrich teaching and enhance learning
  • Effective organizational planning and project management skills
  • Experience in working collaboratively with a wide variety of administrators, faculty, and staff, and others in multiple departments across the District.
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 Days; 12 Months

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

EVALUATION: Per District Policy

HOURS: 40 hours per week and may require longer hours - Monday-Friday

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinator of Elementary Teaching and Learning will be responsible for accomplishing the following:

  1. Provide district-level leadership to strengthen elementary instruction across all content areas, with a targeted and sustained emphasis on improving mathematics instruction, coherence, and implementation.; Lead the monitoring of instructional fidelity through regular classroom walkthroughs during core math and Reteach/Enrich blocks using a standardized observation tool; synthesize findings and deliver clear, actionable feedback to principals and instructional coaches.
  2. Analyze walkthrough data and instructional trends to identify system-wide strengths, gaps, and priority areas-particularly in mathematics-to inform professional learning, coaching focus, and instructional supports.; Provide timely, clear, and actionable feedback to principals, instructional coaches, and department leaders based on walkthrough observations.
  3. Prepare and present quarterly reports to elementary principals highlighting instructional trends, implementation progress, and recommended professional development priorities aligned to district goals.; Observe and support Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to assess instructional practices, collaborative processes, and fidelity to district expectations; provide detailed written feedback to principals, data specialists, and supervisory staff.
  4. Partner with PLC leaders and instructional coaches to analyze student data, identify instructional needs, and design job-embedded professional learning experiences with an emphasis on mathematics instruction and intervention.; Coach staff in strengthening instructional leadership practices across content areas, with specialized guidance in math instruction, effective intervention systems, instructional expectations, and use of data cycles.
  5. Support the development of strong collaborative structures that promote consistent implementation of instructional frameworks and continuous improvement across elementary sites.; Design, develop, and continuously refine high-quality professional development materials that emphasize high-leverage instructional practices in mathematics and ELA, aligned with district priorities, standards, and research-based practices.
  6. Plan, coordinate, and deliver professional learning using multiple delivery models-including in-person, virtual, and asynchronous formats-to meet the diverse needs of elementary educators and leaders.; Maintain accurate records of professional development attendance and credit hours; ensure timely entry into district systems and effective communication with Human Resources and site administrators.
  7. Coordinate the scheduling, deployment, and support of demonstration teachers (TOTs) to provide model lessons, classroom-based support, and instructional coaching aligned with district initiatives.; Provide ongoing support for new teachers and mentors by responding to needs, facilitating communication, and monitoring participation in New Teacher Orientation and the district Mentor Program.
  8. Support National Board Certification candidates by providing resources, facilitating cohort meetings, monitoring progress, and tracking completion of certification milestones.; Assist Aspire2Teach candidates by supporting program requirements, mentoring structures, professional learning opportunities, and access to instructional resources that promote teacher certification and placement success.
  9. Collaborate with instructional coaches, Educational Services staff, and Beyond Textbooks teams to ensure pacing calendars, instructional resources, and curriculum materials are aligned with district goals and state standards.; Provide leadership in the implementation and ongoing support of ESGI for elementary student assessment, including training teachers in effective data collection, analysis, and instructional application.
  10. Support alignment and coherence across curriculum, assessment, and instruction to ensure consistent expectations and high-quality learning experiences for all elementary students.; Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
