Junior High Teacher (Grades 6–8)

Hyder School District #16 | Dateland School

Position Type: Full-Time, Certified

School Year: 2026–2027

Location: Dateland, Arizona

Salary: Based on District Salary Schedule (DOE)

Position Summary

Dateland School is seeking a dedicated, collaborative educator to join our Junior High team for the 2026–2027 school year. Located in a small, rural setting, our school prides itself on a "team-teaching" approach. Unlike traditional isolated classrooms, our Junior High teachers work in a highly integrated environment, sharing responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional success of every student in grades 6, 7, and 8.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction for students in Grades 6–8.

  • Collaboration: Partner with junior high colleagues to plan instruction and support student learning.

  • Student Success: Share responsibility for student academic progress, behavior, and overall success.

  • Differentiation: Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs within a rural population.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Use assessment data to guide instruction and intervention.

  • Culture: Foster a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment.

  • Development: Support students’ social-emotional development and middle school readiness.

  • Compliance: Maintain accurate records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Certification: Valid Arizona Secondary or Middle Grades Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain prior to start date).

  • Skills: Strong classroom management and instructional skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching middle school or junior high students.

  • Experience in a rural or small-school setting.

  • Flexibility and willingness to teach across subject areas.

  • Commitment to collaboration and shared accountability.
