Job Summary and Work Environment:

As the Transportation Coordinator/Driver for Mountain Institute CTED, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for students and staff. This position includes driving routes to and from CTEC sites, coordinating transportation schedules, and overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the district’s vehicle fleet. You’ll work independently and collaboratively with school administrators and program staff to ensure transportation operations meet all safety standards and state regulations. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to student safety are essential. The role offers a dynamic and supportive environment where your work directly contributes to the success of our Career and Technical Education programs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Prior experience as a bus driver or transportation coordinator preferred.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license required
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and School Bus and Passenger Endorsement or the ability to obtain
  • Clean driving record
  • CPR Certified or the ability to obtain
  • IVP fingerprint clearance or the ability to obtain

 

Skills

·        Safe and responsible driving practices with a strong awareness of student safety and state transportation laws.

·        Ability to plan, organize, and manage transportation schedules efficiently.

·        Basic mechanical understanding to monitor and coordinate fleet maintenance needs.

·        Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, vendors, and school partners.

·        Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism in representing Mountain Institute CTED.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive assigned routes to transport students and staff safely to and from district locations and other designated sites.
  • Develop and maintain route schedules in coordination with program and administrative staff.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained, inspected, and meet safety requirements.
  • Schedule and track vehicle maintenance and repairs with approved service providers.
  • Maintain records of mileage, maintenance, and fuel usage.
  • Keep all vehicles clean, fueled, and organized for daily use.
  • Assist with other district transportation and logistical support duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned; including but not limited to light maintenance, helping with various duties around the office or within district boundaries.

Additional Details:

·        Location: Various

·        Full Time Position – Approximately 30-40 hours per week

·        Compensation – Competitive hourly rate based on experience; benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance,

·        This position includes retirement benefits through the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment and employee contributions are required by law.

·        Contract Term: August – May; contract may be renewed annually

·        This position reports to MICTED administration
