Salary Range:

$85,000.00 - $93,500.00 USD annually.

The Principal shares in the following responsibilities: instructional leadership of the school and shared administrative and supervisory responsibility of the school/building. As a leader in the organization it is essential to relate the educational objectives of the school to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement, instructional excellence, community support, and school morale. In addition, the Principal supports every student graduating from the university, contributing to their community, and competing globally.

The Principal will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the teaching and learning at their assigned school. The Principal will ensure that organizational systems and academic programs are established to ensure that the school education objectives are aligned to state frameworks and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven, successful experience as a classroom teacher with qualified content expertise.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a leadership role.
  • Aligned state of Arizona certification for Principals, required.
  • Participates in a continuing professional development program, maintaining a high level of competence in the field of education.
  • Previous experience with blended (online/in-person) learning preferred.
  • Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as an administrative and co-supervisory official of the school.
  • Assumes ultimate responsibility for the management and operation of the school in accordance with law, administrative code, and ASU Preparatory Academy policies and regulations.
  • Exercises authority over the behavior and conduct of pupils, professional and non-professional employees, visitors, and any other persons using the school.
  • Prepares and/or supervises the creation of all reports, master teaching schedules, records, and other paperwork as required by the State Department of Education, and the Federal Government, or paperwork that may be appropriate to the school’s administration.
  • Selects and recommends for hiring school personnel who demonstrate an enthusiasm, professional background, and understanding of the ASU Prep way.
  • Maintains high standards of student safety and conduct, and enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with School Committee policy and the students’ rights to due process.
  • Maintains an efficient office system to support the administrative functions of the school.
  • Uses evaluation for self-improvement; carries out individual improvement plan developed with the Managing Director of Schools.
  • Performs other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Managing Director of Schools or as required by law, code, and regulation/ASU Prep policy.
  • Understands the elements of effective ASU Prep education pedagogy and ensures its implementation in the school’s daily and overall curriculum.
  • Supervises the effective and efficient implementation of the educational and instructional programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and the provisions of the district’s collective bargaining agreements.
  • Acts as a student advocate to ensure the rights of all students are respected and that all have equal access to the educational opportunities necessary to meet their needs and abilities.
  • Develops with staff the annual goals and achievement plan for the school. Chairs (or co-chairs) and facilitates the work of the School Advisory committees and mentor leadership teams.
  • Keeps the Managing Director of Schools informed, and advises, assists, and works cooperatively with all other network staff in school-related matters.
  • Supervises and participates in Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) and other parent/teacher conferences.
  • Provides an articulated, consistent education for all students while encouraging staff to develop high yield strategies, techniques and activities that reflect instructional rigor and academic excellence.
  • Ensures the writing and dissemination of the appropriate documents regarding the school’s progress toward its instructional priorities, goals, policies, and objectives as well as modern educational practices, educational trends, and in-service activities.
  • Communicates the ASU Prep mission and vision to school personnel, students, parents and community.
  • Promotes effective communication and cooperation among staff through regular staff meetings and department and grade level meetings.
  • Promotes effective communication among all members of the school community. Develops and maintains good relations with the school community, and other professional, civic, community, and volunteer groups.
  • Implements strategies to promote a cooperative spirit among the school’s personnel and parents to enhance the educational and social climate of the school. Seeks talent from the community to further the educational goals of the school and the district.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative and positive relations with school community and other professional, civic, community, and volunteer groups.
  • Manage change and facilitate integration through communication and standard operational procedures.
  • Ensure the team is meeting goals related to developing new programs and delivering on existing goals to improve achievement and increased use of instructional technology at all levels.
  • Deliver highest customer satisfaction and customer retention through continual evaluation of Digital Learning Program effectiveness and monitoring student success.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salary recommendations. 
  • Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results. 
  • Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to assure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience as a teacher developer, trainer, and/or supervisor of teachers.
  • Leadership ability in school administration, curriculum development, program evaluation, staff development, school improvement, and staff supervision and evaluation.
  • Experience recruiting students and families, developing programs to achieve school mission.
  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Takes initiative, displays a strong work ethic, and pays attention to detail.
  • Endeavors to help colleagues.
