Position Overview:
We are seeking motivated, dependable, and safety-conscious drivers with 5 years of clean driving experience to join our growing community of school bus drivers ensuring children are transported to and from school, athletic events, field trips and other TUSD activities. As a bus driver, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient transportation of students throughout our district, which spans over 250 square miles with up to 88 campuses. This position requires an individual who is professional, punctual, and committed to contributing to our goal of having 200+ drivers supporting our community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus, adhering to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and district policies.
- Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips in a timely and secure manner.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transit, including assisting students in and out of the bus as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the bus, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Assist in loading and unloading students, ensuring that safety measures are followed.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents as necessary.
- Address and report any incidents, safety concerns, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Always maintain a professional, respectful and positive demeanor, representing the district in a courteous and responsible manner.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
- 5 years of clean driving record.
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
- MVReport showing no more than the allowable points against your Driver’s License, as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug testing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and handle difficult or emergency circumstances.
- Availability to work early mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings for field trips or extracurricular activities.
- Previous experience in a driving or customer service role is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience driving a school bus or similar large vehicle.
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and school transportation regulations.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements:
- Post-Offer/Pre-employment ADOT Medical Certificate with 50lbs Lift Test required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to assist students in boarding and disembarking the bus, including helping those with disabilities.
- Ability to conduct pre-trip inspections and minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
