Summary/Objective

Create a flexible classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students, parents, and staff; and promote social, physical, and intellectual development through subject matter and skills that support student success. Assist students in earning industry-recognized certifications and gaining work-based learning opportunities in the field of Construction Trades.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to job, in a prompt, efficient, friendly, and patient manner 
  2. Teach district approved curriculum, as specified in the Arizona Standards
  3. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  5. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students involved
  6. Guide learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and (in harmony with the goals) establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
  7. Communicate regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.

  10. Partner with local businesses to ensure the curriculum is relevant and to create real-world learning opportunities for students, such as internships or field trips.
  11. Help students with career planning, decision-making, and connecting their skills to potential job opportunities.
  12. Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed 
  13. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations and rules 
  14. Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner
  15. Teach students how to use tools and equipment safely and demonstrate specific skills related to a trade or occupation.
  16. Evaluate student learning through assignments, projects, and exams, and provide constructive feedback.
  17. Train students to pass industry certifications required for their chosen career path

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt, part-time position (1-2 class periods per day) contracted for 148 days from July through May.

 

Required Education and Experience

CTE Teacher Certification:  Industrial and Emerging Technology

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Teaching experience in a public school district.

 

Required Certifications/Licenses

Teaching certification, issued by the Arizona Department of Education, appropriate to the teaching assignment.

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain an IVP a IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona

Department of Public Safety.
