Purpose
The job of EL Teacher is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for facilitating the reading intervention program, services and activities; participating in planning with district personnel, parents and students for individual assistance; ensuring the completion of projects; and complying with the terms and conditions of established policies and procedures.
This job reports to Assigned Administrator
Essential Functions
- Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials; addressing individualized learning plans; structured Tier2 supports, and/or reinforcing reading objectives.
- Administers a variety of specific tasks (e.g. Lexile Reading Test, developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc.) for the purpose of identifying needs, assessing student development and/or developing individual learning plans.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians with teacher of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
- Assesses individual student's (e.g. progress, expectations, goals, etc.) for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with a variety of parties (e.g. instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, students, etc.) for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions; achieving established program objectives and/or and planning curriculum.
- Counsels students, teachers, parents and/or guardians for the purpose of improving students' performance and/or providing support to guardians for at home progress.
Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Directs paraprofessionals for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Evaluates students' performance within subject area for the purpose of determining student progress and/or developing remediation plans.
- Maintains a variety of detailed manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g. diagnostic's, program findings, spread sheets, etc.) for the purpose of meeting program reporting requirements.
- Oversees assigned projects and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring availability of information and/or materials and delivering services in compliance with established guidelines and mandated requirements.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, trainings, in-services, conferences, IEP's for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing support and/or conveying information.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of parties (e.g. staff, the public, parents, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction.
- Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of classroom goals and individual student plans.
