Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
This position works closely with the teacher to support all academic goals and objectives for student success, behavior management, and safety and supervision.  To support the mission of the district goals, procedures, and policies in the best interest of the students by professionally carrying out assigned duties and participating in the improvement and refinement of related areas.  Including coordinating program resources to promote the educational development of each student.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration

Reform Act of 1986.

  • High school degree or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card for educators through The Arizona Department of Education.
  • Experience/knowledge of child development and working in a school setting is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Adheres to the District vision, mission, core values and goals in collaboration with staff.
  • Demonstrates the ability and desire to provide outstanding service to students and families.
  • Demonstrates a high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
  • Assists with instruction by following the teacher’s lesson plans and guidelines.
  • Co-teaches students in small groups or one-on-one sessions.
  • Teaching consists of reinstating or reinforcing material or skills previously taught.
  • Assists with supervision to help reduce disruptive behavior in the classroom.
  • Supervision of students during transitions (classroom to recess, lunch, special classes, etc.,)
  • Support the classroom with providing two-way clear communication between school and home.
  • Assists with the set-up and maintenance of instructional materials and daily schedules based on the teacher’s directions.
  • Implements developmentally appropriate activities for the children.
  • Collaborate with the teacher in planning lessons and the progress of students in groups.
  • Assists substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, play periods and field trips.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Possess written, and oral communication skills due to the nature of the legal documents managed, and perform other duties related to confidential student files as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Must have an excellent memory and ability to function well under stress.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, common sense, and judgment.
  • Must have the ability to keep abreast of information pertinent to the job.
  • Develops and demonstrates the progress of district goals.
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the supervisor.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them in the completion of their work activities.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.
KNOWLEDGE is required to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge is required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.
