Job Description:

4 Day School Week

Full-Time, Exempt, 12 month position

Position Overview:  This position involves a broad range of responsibilities including, but not limited to, Personnel matters and Employee Benefits.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 1 year college-level coursework preferred
  • 1 year direct experience in Human Resources required; Additional education may substitute for some experience
  • Proficient in data calculation, interpretation, data processing, record keeping and computer office skills, including computer applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand, monitor and respond to various complex reporting and mandated legal compliance
  • Ability to adhere and communicate to staff formal policies, procedures, programs and structure
  • Working knowledge of teacher certification requirements and knowledge proficiency as determined by the Arizona Department of Education
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and need for minimal supervision
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Meet and work with District Employees, Administration and the public to provide support and consistently contribute toward enhancing positive staff relations, morale and build strong public relations
  • Commitment to further job-related training and education

 

Specific Duties:

  • Assume responsibility for long range development, planning, organizing, evaluating and forecasting issues in regard to personnel, benefits and payroll.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of Personnel
  • Initiate, establish and maintain all Personnel files and data in compliance with confidentiality, audit regulations, and record retention requirements
  • Prepare employee contracts and work agreements
  • Recruit and advertise for best possible staff to fill open positions both Certified and Classified; Maintain database and file of applications for employment
  • Actively participate in annual Leadership meetings, providing support where needed and required.  This includes the employee salary schedules and programs, district calendar, etc.
  • Review, update, distribute and maintain Employee Handbook
  • Create and maintain employee job descriptions
  • Actively participate and represent Mayer Unified at the Rural School Employee Benefit Trust meetings
  • All reporting required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including, but not limited to: Arizona New Hire reporting, E-Verify, annual SDER reports, Highly Qualified Teacher data, school district calendar
  • Fingerprint clearance cards for employees and volunteers, and perform background checks on employees as required
  • Process and maintain all Workman’s compensation and unemployment claims and files including appeals process
  • Assist with record retention
  • Coordinate all Intergovernmental Agreements for approval and processing
  • Assists with audit preparation and completion
  • Perform Notary duties. This includes witnessing and authenticating signatures on documents as appropriate
  • Exhibit knowledge of district policies, procedures and organizational structure
  • Work proactively as part of a team effort to provide support and assistance to the Superintendent, Staff and the public, both collectively and individually
  • Consult with and advises the Superintendent on matters relating to the District’s affairs pertaining to Personnel
  • Achieve deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Adhere to policies and procedures

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Frequently required to sit for long periods operating office equipment, computer and phone
  • Occasionally required to reach, bend or squat for filing
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Frequently climb stairs
  • Frequent driving car or van
  • Quiet to moderate noise levels
