SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL

(2026-2027 FY)

Palo Verde Elementary School District 49

Location: Palo Verde, AZ 85343 

Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000 (Full-time, 12 months) 

Enrollment: 514 students 

Grades: Pre-K through 8th Grade 

School Schedule: 4-day week (Tuesday to Friday) 

District: One school district

Qualifications

  • Education: 

    • A master's degree in educational administration or a related field is required.

    • Doctorate preferred.

  • Certification: 

    • Valid Arizona Superintendent Certification.

  • Experience: 

    • Minimum of five (5) years as a teacher with preferable experience as a school administrator, preferably as a principal or assistant superintendent.

    • Experience in a K-8 setting is highly preferred.

    • Experience working in a rural school district is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices, curriculum development, and assessment.

  • Ability to manage budgets, finances, and resources effectively.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.

  • Knowledge of Arizona education laws, policies, and regulations.

  • Ability to use data to drive decision-making.

Reports to

  • The District Governing Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the chief executive officer for the school district, responsible for all aspects of leadership, administration, and operations.

  • Monitor student performance data and develop strategies to improve academic outcomes.

  • Ensure the alignment of the district’s goals, mission, and vision with the needs of the students and community.

  • Stay informed about best practices, educational trends, and legal requirements to ensure the district remains at the forefront of educational innovation.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Responsibilities should include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Educational Leadership: Develop and implement a clear vision for the district that aligns with the needs of students and the community.

  • Fiscal Management: Develop and manage the district's budget in a responsible and transparent manner.

  • Personnel Management: Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate district staff.

  • Community Relations: Build strong relationships with parents, families, and community members.

  • Governance and Operations: Work collaboratively with the Governing Board to set district goals and priorities.

School Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, including managing scheduling, staffing, and facilities.

  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive school culture where all students feel valued and motivated to succeed.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including assessments, special education requirements, and health/safety standards.

Compensation and Benefits

The Palo Verde Elementary School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. Benefits include:
