QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Arizona Elementary or Secondary Teacher Certificate
- Applicable Arizona Certificate Endorsement(s)
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Experience with EL state proficiency and the ELA academic standards
- Bilingual, preferred
- Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and coordinate the district’s Structured English Immersion educational program aligned with the State SEI Model requirements to ensure academic success for English Learner (EL) students.
- Monitor federal and state requirements and regulations of the program.
- Maintain familiarity with State standardized tests to adapt curriculum to maximize student achievement.
- Coordinate professional development to support SEI Model placement, assessment, reassessment, and existing requirements of students.
- Organize and administer assessments following state expectations.
- Evaluate language and academic summative assessments to ensure EL students are meeting/exceeding the ELA Standards.
- Collect, analyze, and represent achievement data as required by the Arizona Department of Education.
- Analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies.
- Comply with state and federal documentation requirements.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other professional staff members.
- Act as a resource person to General Education Teachers and EL teachers and communicate the latest developments in EL practices to improve student achievement.
