JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Responsible for driving a bus to transport students.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a skilled trades classification responsible for bus driving activities and transporting students over
specified routes according to time schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and
broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending
on the District’s needs.
* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.
• Drives a school bus safely and professionally;
• Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections;
• Complies with all traffic ordinances;
• Participates in on-site training; and,
• Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE
• Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, codes, and statutes.
• Rules of the road.
• School bus driving principles and procedures.
• Safe work practices.
SKILLS
• Working under pressure to meet timelines and handling multiple and changing priorities.
• Driving a school bus.
• Managing student behavior in a vehicle.
• Demonstrating tact, diplomacy, and patience.
• Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers,
supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (for new hires at job entry)
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver's License with "P" endorsement.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
• Must obtain CPR Card and First Aid Card within time-frame established by the District.
