High School Science Teacher 

*** This is an in-person Science position for our self-schedule students on APEX***

SUMMARY

Effectively manage the learning environment to prepare lesson plans, instruct students, evaluate and monitor students’ performance in order to advance student achievement. Understand and appreciate diversity. Work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Arizona Secondary Certificate with General Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics Approved Area 

OR

• Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6-12 with General Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics Approved Area
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
  Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

• High School Science Teacher salary range $47,400 to $54,900/year

• Location: Tucson Unified Virtual Academy/C.O.L.E. – on the Catalina High School Campus – Pima & Dodge Area
• FTE: 1.0 FTE – 7.5 hours per day 
• Work Calendar: 9.5month  
• Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
