Job Description:

I.          General Description:
Must be a strong instructional leader, an expert administrator and serve to create a vision educational excellence for all students. Create a climate of high standards in the school through establishing a safe and effective teaching/learning environment. Provide for a fair, equitable building budget and operate an efficient, well cared for school facility.  Be actively involved in the community supporting the school.
 
II.         Qualifications:

  1. Valid Arizona Department of Education teaching certificate
  2. Valid Arizona Principal and/or Administrative Certificate
  3. Master's Degree
  4. Three years experience as a teacher or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
  5. Three years of successful school administrative experience (preferred)
  6. Five years of successful classroom teaching experience (preferred)
  7. Knowledge of national standards and the Arizona Academic and Professional Standards
  8. Evidence of leadership in the delivery of professional development to educators
  9.  Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  10. Skilled in developing talent in colleagues and use of coaching techniques

           
III.        Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the head of the school leadership team, and in that capacity guide the team in analyzing student data, developing a school academic plan, monitoring cluster group operations, and fostering inter-rater reliability.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of overall school curriculum and quality instructional practices.
  3. In collaboration with the school leadership team, create a school assessment plan that includes formalized benchmarking and fosters teachers' use of ongoing formative assessments.
  4. Create a climate of high standards in the school, characterized by a tone of respect for students, staff, parents, and community.
  5. Establish a professional learning community environment and approach focused on continuous improvement for all.
  6. Communicate effectively and actively work towards accomplishing the goals of the school and district.
  7. Provide a safe, productive and positive teaching/learning environment for students, staff, parents, and community.
  8. Ensure overall student academic growth is taking place through assessment, evaluation, planning, and teaching.
  9. Develop and implement an Avondale School Improvement Plan annually that aligned with the TAP school achievement plan.
  10. Participate fully in TAP professional development at the regional, district, and school level as scheduled.
  11. Complete TAP Evaluations including: Pre-conference, Observation, Post-conference with Reinforcement/Refinement Plan, follow-up and support.
  12. Monitor the teacher evaluation data management system to identify trends in teacher evaluation scores and maintain inter-rater reliability.
  13. Identify the needs in teacher professional development and school curriculum, and gather resources and solutions to address these needs in collaboration with the Director of Academic Services.
  14. Organize staff meetings to encourage staff participation with open and respectful dialogue.
  15. Implement a student/parent handbook that explains students' rights and responsibilities monitoring compliance with all school and District policies and procedures.
  16. Maintain a consistent and fair school discipline program, with a positive focus.
  17. Monitor and actively participate (or ensure there is a LEA representative) at all Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as well as ensuring that accurate Special Education records are maintained for complete compliance.
  18. Monitor and ensure compliance for all federal and state regulations and requirements, such as but not limited to English language learners, state testing, student attendance (ADM), Title programs, etc. 
  19. Deal effectively and professionally with controversial issues and critical situations in collaboration with Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent.
  20. Provide a fair, equitable building budget based on funds available with school community input and approval of the Executive Director of Business Services.
  21. Operate an efficient, well cared for school facility.
  22. Develop a master schedule for the school's programs assuring equitable and efficient scheduling and placement of students, staff, and facilities.
  23. Offer a variety of meaningful ways in which parents and the community can be involved with the school.
  24. Effectively communicate with all stakeholders regarding the TAP initiative, student progress and the operations of the school, to include but not limited to, website, newsletters, marquees.
  25. Follow all District policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
  26. Perform all other tasks as may be assigned.

Salary Range: Administrative Salary Schedule SY 25/26 and District Benefits Package $90,161- $112,313
