Superintendent – Valley Union High School District
Location: Elfrida, Arizona
Reports To: Governing Board
Contract: 12 months
Position Overview:
The Superintendent serves as the chief executive officer of Valley Union High School District, providing strategic leadership to ensure academic excellence, operational efficiency, and strong community engagement. The Superintendent is responsible for implementing board policies, managing district resources, and fostering a student-centered culture aligned with the district’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Administration
Serve as the educational leader of the district, promoting academic achievement and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement long-term strategic plans in alignment with board goals and community needs.
Supervise and evaluate all district personnel, including principals, directors, and support staff.
Instructional Oversight
Oversee curriculum development, instructional practices, and student assessment programs.
Promote high standards for teaching, learning, and student performance.
Support career and technical education (CTE) pathways and college/career readiness initiatives.
Finance & Operations
Prepare and manage the district budget in accordance with Arizona regulations and funding formulas.
Ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Oversee facilities, transportation, food service, and technology infrastructure.
Policy & Governance
Advise the Governing Board on policy development, legal compliance, and district matters.
Prepare board agendas, reports, and recommendations; attend all meetings unless excused.
Community Engagement
Maintain open, transparent communication with parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
Represent the district in local, regional, and state forums.
Foster partnerships with local organizations, higher education institutions, and governmental agencies.
