JOB GOAL:

 

The Child Nutrition Assistant Senior is responsible for food preparation, cooking, cashiering, and reconciliation of cash drawers and assists in other areas such as serving and clean-up as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Food Handler’s Certificate

  • Previous experience handling money desired

  • Experience in food preparation desired

  • Ability to read and execute written recipes and cook food in large quantities

  • Ability to keep accurate records

  • Ability to operate a computerized cash register 

  • Ability to operate  commercial kitchen equipment

  • Knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations

  • Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and students on the Child Nutrition program

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • High School diploma or GED preferred

  • Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations, and rules

  • Must pass fingerprint and background check

  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  189 Days; 10 Months

REPORTS TO:  Child Nutrition Cafeteria Manager

HOURS:  30 hours - Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

CLASSIFICATION:  Hourly, Non-exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

 

  1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and the community.; Maintain appropriate change funds for registers.

  2. Perform cashiering and end-of-day procedures.; Monitor lunch/breakfast sales to ensure guidelines/federal regulations are met.

  3. Ensure product quality by visual inspection to maintain customer satisfaction.; Assist in keeping student status in the computer system accurate.

  4. Assist in training new employees and student workers on cashiering procedures and guidelines.; Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.

  5. Assists with the daily cleaning of all kitchen and equipment to ensure cleanliness and to ensure sanitary conditions are met.; Precisely measure and portion ingredients according to recipes.

  6. Prepare and cook various items using different methods.; Assist in food preparation and clean up.

  7. Assist with stocking and replenishing of supplies.; May be assigned manager duties when a manager is absent.

  8. Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed.; Perform other duties as assigned.
