The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Elementary School Teacher fosters a dynamic and engaging learning environment integrating interdisciplinary STEM concepts into the curriculum, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  2. State of Arizona Standard Professional Elementary K-8 teaching certificate
  3. Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting
  4. Experience working with a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based learning that prepares students for future academic and career success in STEM fields, preferred
  5. Proficiency in integrating technology and digital tools into instruction
  6. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student exploration and skill development in STEM.
  2. Implement a STEM-focused curriculum aligned with state and national educational standards.
  3. Assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
  4. Deliver interdisciplinary lesson plans that incorporate science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in engaging, age-appropriate ways.
  5. Utilize project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-driven instruction to foster curiosity and exploration.
  6. Integrate technology, coding, robotics, and engineering principles into lessons.
  7. Use differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs.
  8. Work closely with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance the school's STEM program.
  9. Collaborate with other educators to develop cross-curricular connections.
  10. Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provide progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.

  13. Provide an atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
  14. Maintain accurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
  15. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
  16. Attend and participate in general faculty and department meetings.
  17. Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  18. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional equipment, as applicable.
  19. Participate in professional development workshops and training to stay current on best practices in arts education.
